Dale Earnhardt's family played a big part in his life. His wife and children were very important to him, he was a loving husband and father. It was always great to see his family at the track with him. The year 2000 was such a wonderful year... It was so nice to see Dale race against his son. It was nice to see the way the two of them bonded. I'm sure his family misses him very much, and I offer my condolences to them. The events of the 2001 Daytona 500 took a toll on all of us Earnhardt fans, but it must have been absolutely terrible for the family to be going through all of this. Not only did they have to go through losing a loved one, but they also had to fight to keep Dale's autopsy photos out of the hands of the morbid members of the press who wanted to get their hands on them. I'm glad to see they made it through strong, and were successful in helping to change Florida laws regarding autopsy photos.
